Tung oil natural

Tung oil natural

available

Natural Tung Oil contains no siccatives. It polymerises in a similar way to linseed oil, but dries faster and forms a hard, matt surface. If wood is treated exclusively with Tung Oil Natural, the natural wood colour is essentially retained. It is very suitable for impregnating hardwood and as a surface coating on linseed oil paints. It can be used indoors and outdoors.

Tung oil natural is obtained from the nuts of the wood oil tree (Vernicia fordii) in Asia, the USA and South America. The oil was historically referred to as "wood oil" or "Chinese wood oil" and is the binding agent for Chinese and Japanese wood and paper paintings.

It is registered in the CAS database under the name "wood oil"

Tung oil natural has a typical inherent odour that disappears after complete oxidation. The time depends on the thickness of the layer and the weather conditions. It is often recommended for the care of furniture in homes. Technically, wood oil is an excellent product for this purpose and has been used for centuries, but you should test the odour development before using it indoors. Citrus terpenes can partially mask the odour.
Our natural tung oil contains no solvents, siccatives or other additives. It is a 100% natural product and ecologically valuable.
VOC: wood coating, 0 % solvent

    Application

    • Alone or as a top coat indoors and outdoors (if necessary, dilute with balsamic turpentine or citrus terpene for deeper penetration)
    • Paint exterior wood until it no longer absorbs oil, if possible first prime with linseed oil without siccative
    • Remove excess oil after approx. 1 hour with a cloth or brush, otherwise an ice flower pattern will form
    • Sanding wood in liquid wood oil produces a particularly smooth surface and serves as a pore filler
    • Only wipe interior wood with a lint-free cloth. Thick layers take significantly longer to dry and the odour lasts longer.
    • Low humidity and sunlight accelerate oxidation and the linseed oil hardens more quickly.

CAUTION: Self-ignition possible with e.g. cleaning cloths - dry or burn contaminated cleaning cloths under supervision.
