About us

The starting point for "Wainscoting and Panelling" was my own house from the Wilhelminian era, for which I was looking for wood panelling in keeping with the style, but couldn't find any. I started paying attention to panelling and whenever I found a particularly beautiful one in Berlin or while travelling, I measured and photographed it. There is wood panelling in countless Wilhelminian-style entrances, baroque palaces and churches. I was very impressed by the beauty and diversity of the designs of the time.

The idea

Having always been involved in the restoration of historic buildings and period interiors, I appreciate good craftsmanship and reproduce classic panelling according to original designs and construction methods together with two specialised joineries. In our catalogue you will find some of the most beautiful panelling in Europe, although there are still many cities to explore. We show highlights such as William Morris' design for the Green Dinning Room in the V&A in London and simple panels such as the one in the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin, which is intended to provide a clear structure in the room without stealing attention from the art. The range includes different designs and variants, which we found on our forays. To make it easy to find your way around, we will adapt the structure of the folders as more panelling is added. I would be delighted if you find something you like.

Perspective

The catalogue still needs to be supplemented with missing designs in order to complete the range.

We want to develop our own panelling that fits into a calm, contemporary ambience.

We would like to make the difference between panelling and lambris clearer with our range.

The Topic ventilation rosette is small, but important for the durability of the wood. Here too, we will have further rosettes reproduced true to the original and add them to our range.

We would like to attract artists / graphic designers / interior designers and realise your ideas for wall coverings.
